BACK
ON THE ROAD!
I
would like to thank all of you that emailed
me concerned about not receiving The Art
Fix. Well, after two years of weekly issues,
I needed a break, I was not idle though.
Based on your input and demand during the
last two years, we restructured and expanded
our services under a new company The Art
Fix International with an independent website
www.TheArtFixInternational.org
. The site is almost completed, but for
the gallery service section.
We
were also preparing our first project The
Phases of Eve, which is a mini website
embeded into the project section of the
site. We are planning to launch similar
online/offline projects that show art in
context every other month. We also invite
you to send us ideas for projects and/or
to create your own; we will assist you in
the creation of the project and host it
in our site for you. For more info or to
submit project ideas email: augusto@TheArtFixInternational.org
New
projects and services will be added as we
continue to develop the site tools and our
membership base. Please, visit the site
and get familiar with it. We hope that you
enjoy it. www.TheArtFixInternational.org

...I am
amazed at the maturity on the babies' faces
I am fearful for the older children
I am crying as I paint
I am angry
I am sad
I am truly sorry
I have to feel hope for
a new story...

Artist Statement: The Saints series
came about when I was talking to a friend
about the narrative element in my work.
I wanted to explore symbolism and the issues
I had of being brought up as a Roman Catholic
and she suggested I look at the Saints as
a subject for a new series of paintings.
The works are a tapestry of research not
only into the lives of just a few saints,
but also the cults and superstitions that
have grown around them. Using historic and
Catholic sources, I paint the Saints in
contemporary settings, rendering them almost
kitsch. Some of their faces are based on
real people. I weave the anecdotal with
symbols and the, often bizarre, facts about
the Saints' lives. The resulting works are
not intended to be religious but explore
stories, many of which have become unfamiliar
in today's society.
