Raymond Dumoux
Diogene looks for the man amongst animals 000000(egg-tempera on linen)
Pictorama is a Raymond Dumoux's egg-tempera painted monumental collection on canvas. (110 yards in length)
Begun in 1998, this panorama, today made up of 25 paintings of 17 x 10 feet each, evokes the history of mankind, from past to future.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Dumoux's pictural techniques show up the diverse components of the Tempera process : from the preparation of the supports to the use of binders and pigments. Particular importance is given to the preparation of marouflage canvas or paper supports.
The coats of preparation which succeed each other on this marouflage are based on spanish white or skin glue or on plaster. This fundamental preparation, characteristic of ancient, medieval or icone painting, is essential in the complete development of this art.
Next, the pigments are binded using an egg medium : either just the white, or the white and the yolk, or sometimes using an emulsion made up of egg yolk, egg white and linseed oil. Finally, the tempera panels are covered with a thin layer of wax to ensure that their surface is even and to protect them from dampness.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Davis began dyeing garments in 1969, but was introduced to shibori dyeing in 1981 by Yoshiko I. Wada. Wada is a diminutive Japanese-American woman whose dye work, books, teaching and promotion of shibori have earned her a reputation as the world’s leading authority on the art.

The Japanese word “shibori” covers a multitude of dye techniques. Wada’s preferred translation is “shaped resist dyeing,” which describes the process of creating pattern by manipulating a two-dimensional cloth surface into a three-dimensional shape before compressing it to dye. The fabric may undergo plucking, pinching, bunching, pleating, folding, wrapping, stitching, tying, clamping or a combination of these. The resulting pattern may be orderly or random. Some shibori techniques are centuries old; others are being invented by a new worldwide community of artists, many of them Wada’s students. ... more by Colleen Anderson

Thomas Carlile Fedro

Alicia Fedro

One pure moment.

I am waiting (as dreamer of sunsets)

slowly turning inside, then out.

Vital organs brush against the horizon,

absorbing gold streaks of sand-shine.

A flash of the steel and stone landscape

grazes the skin on my neck,

deposits the grit of should and must.

But for now, I sing a shadow

bursting with hate, love, laugh, cry.

Boundaries blur between blood and bone.
