That paranoid being that lives on the surface of the sea, and that, in
its madness, dreams to live as a bathyscaph under the water, cannot understand
the sacred meaning that the ritual of fire has for us, Eskimo-hearted
men.
That poor crazy mermaid copulator cannot understand the warm touch of
your hands, the thermal vibrations of your mouth or the healing miracle
of your thighs.
He would change your winter skin for some scales and an algae mane. He
would prefer the lustful song of the fish-women to your natural and sticky
laughter.
I have been in his shoes so many times, in the bottom of the seven seas,
in the silence of infinite aquariums and even in common fishbowls.
So many times!
I have shared my bed with beautiful and pretentious goldfishes, forgotten
trout, clumsy turtles, brilliant dolphins, and problematic sharks.
I have enjoyed the unknown so much, that when I saw you by the shoreline,
some time ago, - or was it on the other side of the glass? - with that
anti-iceberg look, those stoning desires and that scorn for fish, I suddenly
understood that your madness was different but complementary to mine and
if we put them together - who would know? Perhaps we could get along well...
- Everything is OK, isn't it?
The Art Fix is looking for artists living or studying in the Greater Cleveland area that would like to be featured on our Cleveland Fine Art Connections series; and artists living or studying in Ohio to be featured on our Regional Fine Art Catalogue. We are also looking for artists outside the region that would like to network with regional artists and connect with local galleries and audiences. Outsiders will be featured in our Fine Art Network series.
We are looking for emerging and established poets, writers, painters, photographers, sculptors, glass artists, costume designers, set designers willing to share a piece of their talent to enlighten the life of all of us and to showcase art power of this region.
A poem or/and passage of a short story will be paired to a visual artwork at every issue. Literature and artwork must be submitted electronically.
There is not a limitation on the quantity of pieces to submit, or number of proposals by one artist. There is not a deadline. However, The Art Fix reserves all the rights to select the literature pieces and visual artwork to be displayed, and the rate of distribution.
Featured artists will be linked to their websites or to a contact information web page. No fees or commissions will be charged to be promoted or as a result of any sales resulting from this promotion.
