| Dear friends:
YES! WE ARE ONE YEAR OLD!
The Art Fix was born out of my love for fine art, need
to communicate and network with other artists and galleries
cost effectively and my curiosity for technology and
marketing. A year ago, I started this project with 250
art-related contacts in my personal list. Today, I reached
almost a targeted art-related audience of 18000. By
the end of 2005, I expect the network to be 30000-40000
art-related contacts.
I am a firm believer in the benefits of cross marketing
and networking. I am also very adaptable to new technology
and applications. I believe that the fine art industry
is one of the worst marketed industries in the global
economy of the 21st century. Although I am the first
to acknowledge that traditional marketing is also needed
for a round marketing campaign, it tends to improve
more our egos than most of our pockets. I believe that
current fine art price structures, contracts and prejudiced
perception of targeted audience are out of sync with
our global times and closer to late 19th century trends,
which reduce the possibilities of success of a large
group of talented artists and small galleries. There
must be another way! And I am willing to try to find
it.
I am not a guru. I am not a guise guy. I do not claim
universal insights about anything. All I know is pretty
simple: If there is a large rock in my path, it is more
productive and easier to find ten other people - even
with different individual interests - willing to push
the rock in one direction than if I do it by myself.
The more people within the art community that devote
themselves to networking the better off we all will
be. We all need capacity building, critical mass to
make a real individual or collective impact that favors
us and everybody else.
I am all about breaking walls and open doors. But I
am not a naive daydreamer. I do analyze my personal
and professional life options in economic short and
long-term outcomes all the time. I have taken plenty
of risks. I have succeeded many times and I have failed
many times. I have learned a lot in the process. What
else should I ask for?
Dear friends, The Art Fix is just the beginning. My
goal is to create a great affordable and interactive
set of cross-promotional, networking and marketing tools
for all of us willing to push the rock together. It
is my passion and my dream. How close am I to make it
real? Closer every day.
Thank you to all of you for connecting every week and
sharing your artistic skills and insights about these
amazing times that we are living.
Thank you for your interest in The Art Fix.
