Public Art

It is great to be able to work in many different media at large scale, but it is expensive. If you still want to do it, public art projects is a great way to to create those large pieces without going broke. However, leave your ego at the door, there are many stakeholders' voices to be included, red tape and specs that must be followed.

The part that I enjoy the most is that messy creative process, very different to the one that take place while I am working at the studio. I must collaborate with a lot of people of different ages, cultural and social backgrounds, sometimes hundreds, from the design to the installation. It is a challenge all the time. I have to meet the expectations within the constrictions of a budget and a timeline. I have to keep the level of engagement of each of the volunteers throughout the process, and when we are talking about 300 second graders building a 20’x6′ 1000 pound glass mosaic, well… things get a bit crazy.
